Terrence Brady

Terrence R. Brady (Terry) is Chief Executive Officer, President and Trustee of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL). In his role Terry sets the direction, priorities and strategies for UL’s safety science research, standards development, education and public outreach activities. Terry is a recognized thought leader in global safety science and a frequent speaker and author on empowering trust in a world of increasingly complex supply chains and technologies.

Terry previously served as UL’s Chief Commercial and Legal Officer, managing key functions including legal services, ethics and compliance, government affairs, global security and brand protection, corporate marketing and enterprise strategy.
Prior to joining UL, Terry was an associate and partner for 27 years in the global law firm Winston &; Strawn LLP, concentrating his practice in mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and corporate governance. Terry graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and Notre Dame Law School, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy.

Terry serves on the Board of Trustees of Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep, the Board of Directors of the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Chicago Regional Advisory Committee of the Ireland Funds. He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Executives’ Club of Chicago, the Commercial Club of Chicago and the Asia Society.
