Monika Karu is an accomplished leader in financial services with nearly 20 years of experience in capital markets, operations, and regulatory compliance. As the Group Chief Operating Officer and a Board Member of Venturebeam, she drives the firm’s global operations. Monika ensures efficient capital-raising processes, effective risk management, and compliance with regulations, supporting the company’s growth.
She has deep expertise in capital-raising operations. Monika has effectively managed the entire fundraising process. This includes onboarding investors, conducting due diligence, structuring deals, and overseeing post-funding administration. Her leadership has streamlined transaction workflows and improved relationships with investors. Additionally, she has enhanced regulatory compliance. As a result, Venturebeam has established itself as a trusted platform for both issuers and investors.
Previously, Monika served as Global Head of Primary Markets, overseeing order handling, client asset management, and outsourced service partnerships. She was key in building scalable operational frameworks, ensuring smooth cross-border transactions and compliance with regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
Before joining Venturebeam in 2017, Monika spent over a decade at LHV Bank, leading custody services and institutional client relationships. She worked closely with banks, hedge funds, and financial institutions, playing a pivotal role in Baltic ECM transactions and shaping regulatory strategy. During this time, she was also a member of the Estonian Target2 Securities Workgroup, contributing to developing and implementing a pan-European securities settlement infrastructure.
A recognised expert in financial operations, risk management, and compliance, Monika has extensive training in AML, KYC, and financial crime prevention. She has also led internal compliance training initiatives, fostering a strong organisational governance culture.
