Liam Wegimont serves as a Venture Partner at Venturewave Capital, actively shaping sustainable development and education-focused investment strategies. With decades of experience in educational leadership, public policy, and international cooperation, Liam guides Venturewave’s investments to align with transformative educational models and impactful outcomes.
Liam is Executive Director of Global Education Network Europe (GENE), driving European policy initiatives in global education and fostering cooperation between ministries of education and foreign affairs across over 25 countries; working closely with the European Commission, the OECD, and UNESCO. Previous roles have included Principal of Mount Temple Comprehensive School, and Head of Global Education at the Council of Europe’s North-South Centre.
A researcher and visiting lecturer at several European universities, Liam co-founded ANGEL– a global network of researchers focusing on strategic policy research in global education. His commitment to academic excellence and global education – focused on innovative educational practices with social impact – significantly enhances Venturewave Capital’s strategic initiatives.
Liam holds a primary degree from Dublin City University and pursued post-graduate studies in Boston College and Erlangen-Nurnberg. His expertise encompasses education policy; international cooperation; strategic educational investment, public opinion research, and advocacy for impact values – global citizenship, human rights, sustainability and intercultural understanding.
