Dr Marion Boland is the Head of Research Policy at Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). Marion manages policy and governance related areas for SFI’s Gender Strategy, Open Science, Data management, Research Integrity and Grant Terms & Conditions. Marion has represented SFI and Ireland at national and international fora, has built up a broad network of influential contacts in academic, medical, industry and policy related sectors.

As a career scientist, Marion held positions at Trinity College Dublin, the University of Alberta and University of Cambridge before joining the Centre for Cancer research and Cell Biology at Queen’s University Belfast in 2001 as a lecturer in Molecular Oncology. Between 2005 and 2006 Marion worked in the City (London) as part of team managing the financial public relations of companies in the Life Sciences and Biotechnology sector.
